From the Paulding County Economic Development website at pauldingdevelopment.org

Paulding County Economic Development has designated five target industries that would benefit from Paulding’s assets and have the highest potential for growth.

Aerospace & Aviation

Georgia is number one for aerospace manufacturing, generating $57.5 billion in economic impact. It is home to more than 800 aerospace companies that benefit from the synergy of complementary industries, several of which can be found right here in Paulding. Our manufacturing sector produces aerospace and defense-related products and parts, as well as unfinished inputs and finished components for aerospace products.

Georgia’s aerospace industry serves a global marketplace thanks in part to the world’s most traveled airport and its eight regional airports. One of these regional airports is the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport, winner of the Excellence for Innovation in Economic Development award. The airport has a 23,000 sq ft terminal building that hosts private and community events, is home to five aviation-related businesses, and has a 5,505-foot concrete runway that supports activity to help businesses improve their efficiency. These activities include emergency medical support, powerline patrols, agricultural aerial applicators and film production services. The airport’s strategic expansion plan will create new jobs and increase its economic impact as it meets the anticipated aviation needs of our growing county over the next decade.

Automotive Supply

There are more than 200 leading companies in the automotive industry operating in Georgia. Since 1909, they have chosen Georgia as their home for manufacturing, assembly, headquarters, and innovation centers, contributing more than $3 billion to our economy. In our central location amid southeastern OEMs, we are ideally situated to move product to both domestic and international customers.

Paulding County offers an ample supply of skilled employees with a variety of technical backgrounds that are important to the success of the automotive manufacturing industry.

Machinery & Equipment

Georgia is a national leader in advanced manufacturing, outpacing the U.S in 10-year GDP growth in the manufacture of products including machinery, electrical equipment and components, and fabricated metals. Our manufacturing strength is formed by more than 6,000 firms and 270 production workers, generating $61.1 billion.

The manufacturing sector has a solid foundation in Paulding County. Interroll, which bills itself as the leading global provider of material flow solutions, has built two plants in Hiram and is one of our top employers. More than 10% of our existing workforce is employed in manufacturing, which offers above-average annual wages.

    Medical Health

Healthcare is one of the largest employment sectors in the region. With the rising age of the general population, it is projected to grow significantly in the coming years. By targeting both health care businesses and consumers, Paulding County can become a top choice for local high-quality health care services.

Paulding County is ranked the ninth healthiest county in the state. Our healthcare sector has grown steadily, including the expansion of key employers such as WellStar Health System and Tanner Medical System. The workforce in this sector has become highly skilled and specialized to include doctors, nurses, technicians, and a wide array of other health care specialists.

    Film & Television

Thanks to its competitive tax incentive programs, Georgia has become the #1 film production leader in the country. The state has built a vast production infrastructure that includes 3,040 film and production-related companies, a broad network of production and recording facilities, a large and skilled workforce, equipment and suppliers, gaming and interactive media developers, and technology and support services.

Paulding County is a designated Camera Ready Community able to connect film and TV productions with skilled liaisons who provide local expertise and support. It has been the site for feature films such as “Vacation,” “Office Christmas Party,” and “42,” contributing to the industry’s $2.9 billion economic impact in the state. Paulding has a successful local studio, Swirl Films, that leverages the resources of Paulding County and the Georgia Film Office to save time and money on their productions.
